Abstract

It is a moment of great growth for the neurosciences with clinical application, thanks to the development of surprising technologies like the visualization of the neuronal function (opto-neuroscience), the analysis of the expression of genes in a single cell, the cognitive neuroscience that establishes very important circuits of mental and cerebral functions (by means of neuroimagen principally) and very clear determinants of the immune profile in the Nervious System. On another side, the epidemiology, especially in advanced countries, passed, in a few years, to quantify from hundreds to thousands samples of persons and up to the million persons (only in meta-analysis), for determinants of the mental health. Many of these studies are already provided with biological information, like the studies in Iceland or in England, where the excellent bio-data banks relating to the mental illnesses begin to take importance in the headlines of the science. Unfortunately, in Mexico there are still few efforts to set up great databases, excepted these of the National Institute of Psychiatry Ramón de la Fuente Muñiz.
