Author Guidelines

Salud Mental does not issue or receive payments for the sending, processing, or publication of texts.

  • Nature of articles: Contributions received for publication must be original results derived from high-level academic work.
  • Exclusivity: Since manuscripts must be unpublished and their authors must undertake not to submit them simultaneously for consideration by other publications, it is necessary to attach a carta de declaratoria de originalidad.
  • Salud Mental (SM) publishes contributions in Spanish and English. However, due to our international scope, preference is given to articles in English to reach a broader international scientific community. It is the author’s responsibility to guarantee the content and translation of manuscripts submitted in English.
  • Length and format: The complete manuscript (title, authors, affiliation, abstracts, body of the article, captions, and references) must have 1.5 line spacing, and be on letter size paper (21.5 x 28 cm) with 2.5 cm margins. It must be written in Word format, in 12-point Times New Roman font. The word processor must be Word (not PDF), including tables. The manuscript must not include abbreviations, only international symbols.
  • Anonymity of the identity of the authors: Manuscripts should not contain any information revealing the identity of the authors to ensure anonymous evaluation by the academic peers who will undertake the review. Information on the identity of the authors should be provided on the cover page submitted as a separate file from the body of the article.
  • Cover page contents: The following information should be included in a separate file from the manuscript.
  • Article title: this should be brief and descriptive, ideally less than 15 words.
  • Authors' names and surnames, in the order in which they should appear in the publication, with a hyphen between one surname and the next if two are used, and a comma between each author name.
  • Author ID: It is essential for each of the authors to provide their standard ORCID identifier number. For more information, visit www.orcid.org
  • Institution where the research was conducted. It is essential to indicate the institution to which each of the authors is affiliated, indicating only the main institution, without resorting using acronyms or translations of the name of the institution. The country where the institution is located must also be indicated.
  • The corresponding author must be identified, with their name, address, telephone number and email.
  • Abstracts: All abstracts must be written in comprehensible Spanish and English to provide the reader with a concise, adequate summary of the article (maximum 250 words).
  • At the end of the abstracts in Spanish and English, three to five keywords will be noted, following the suggestions of Medical Subject Headings (MeSH).
